Last Friday night, my roommate Sara and I (yes, there are two saras in one apartment) hosted our first Christmas party. We had a great time connecting with friends, laughing, and eating WAY too much food. =) We had a great time with some wonderful memories.
I love Christmas. I love the snow (I’m visiting AZ, and there isn’t any snow here…but there isn’t any in Minnesota either, so I can’t complain). I love the warmth that I feel in my heart at Christmastime. I love the connection I feel with all of humanity. I love giving gifts (and receiving, I must admit) And for whatever reason- family, the Birth of Christ, joy and lightness, carols…maybe all of them combined- when I think of Christmas, tears raise in my eyes.
I’m a sucker and a sap for the Christmas Spirit. I love the lights and holiday parades. And there’s something to be said for the soft glow which emanates from the frosted bulbs of white lights that adorn all of our barren trees. They twinkle and make the world a brighter place.
Thus when Sara and I were shopping Thursday night before our party (yes, we weren’t ready until ½ hour before it started), I spotted a CD I had to have: Bing Crosby’s White Christmas. Since I was a little girl I have loved that song and loved the movie by the same title even more. I’ve always secretly wanted to fall in love with a guy like Bing’s character in the movie, and have always wanted to be the sister like Rosemary Clooney. So poor Sara (who’s never seen the film) had to listen to me sing the songs all the way down the ice cream isle…to the check-out counter…to the car…and home. I had fun though. =)
So imagine my excitement when I took an online test entitled: “My Holiday Theme Song,” and discovered mine is as follows-
“Sara, your holiday theme song is White Christmas!!”

“Looks like you might be the sentimentalist in the crowd (yep!). You, more than others, revel in the nostalgia of the season. Some may think it’s a little bit sappy, but you can’t help it if you feel all gushy at the first sight of snow, the scent of evergreens, or the first airing of It’s a Wonderful Life.
You’re one who picks up on traditions, and you probably like to pass them on, as well. That ornament over there, we bet it has a good story attached to it. Truth is, Santa himself probably couldn’t spread as much Christmas spirit as you’re capable of. While others are mired in materialism, you keep the holiday’s true meaning closer to your heart. So keep on dreaming of a white Christmas with every Christmas card you write. May your days be merry and bright. And may all your Christmases be white.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
